You know those days when you barely have time to use the bathroom, let alone cook a wholesome meal for your family? And what about the challenge of pleasing everyone’s taste buds all in the same dinner? Well, this super quick weekday meat sauce never fails to be a crowd-pleaser!
Ingredients:
2 lbs of either ground beef, turkey or pork (my favorite is some combination of the three)
Olive oil for sautéing
1 medium onion, finely chopped
4 cloves of garlic, sliced
1 tablespoon of dried parsley
1 tablespoon of Italian seasoning
Salt & pepper to taste (I use these generously)
Sprinkle of red pepper flakes
2 jars of your favorite marinara sauce (I love Raos which contains no preservatives and just a few whole ingredients)
1/4 cup grated parmesan or romano cheese (I use the one at Trader Joe’s that’s a combo)
Pasta of your choice (I’m watching my gluten intake so yesterday I ate it over roasted garlic broccoli.)
Instructions:
Finely chop the onion and saute in a little bit of olive oil in a large skillet until the onions begin to brown.
Add the ground meat on a medium to high heat. As it cooks through break up into small pieces. Add the garlic and the rest of the seasonings and cook until the meat is completely cooked through.
Add the two jars of sauce and the cheese. Cover and simmer on low for a few more minutes and your done or if you have some time let it simmer for an hour.
Pour 1/2 of the meat sauce over your favorite pasta and toss well before serving. Add some fresh basil and your good to go!
