The Academy Awards are this Sunday and, each year, we get together with friends to celebrate the event. Each year we have a different theme and sometimes we all like to get dressed up and have a fancy party. This year, however, we are going to be very casual. My friend, who is hosting the event this year, is going to have a DIY Popcorn Bar, very similar to this one from Sarah's Cucina Bella. She did something like this last summer and it was so much fun for everyone to create their own popcorn mixture.
DIY Popcorn Bar
(image & ideas from Sarah's Cucina Bella)
Ingredients
Popcorn–pop your own (my preference) or use storebought
Melted unsalted butter (a must!)
Olive oil, or an oil mister
A selection of salts, such as fleur de sel, black sea salt, truffle salt and pink Himalayan salt
Cinnamon sugar
Cheeses — grated Parmesan, crumbled blue cheese, feta, and cheddar can
M&Ms
Chocolate chips
Gummy bears and sour worms
Herbs like basil, rosemary and thyme, fresh and finely chopped, or dried
Small bowls or cute popcorn boxes or sacks — there are cute options available on Etsy or at some craft stores — to hold the popcorn.
Spoons for all the toppings
Instructions
Set up a bar with toppings and mix-ins to make the popcorn super fun. Mix up the sweet and savory offerings so guests can really customize their creations.
