We make a big deal about Valentine's Day in our house and I love to start the family's day with a sweet breakfast like these French toast hearts. Sometimes I even make these for my daughter's lunch to add a little extra love.
Heart-shaped French Toast
Ingredients
8 slices whole grain bread
Heart-shaped cookie cutter
4 eggs
Splash of milk
1/4 tsp of cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1 tsp of vanilla
Butter
Garnish–powdered sugar, maple syrup, berries (optional)
Instructions
Using the heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out hearts out of the bread. Set aside. Store the scraps for another use.
In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla until well combined.
Heat some butter in a frying pan. While butter is melting, dip bread in egg mixture, one slice at a time, then add to hot pan.
Cook on one side until golden brown and flip over to cook other side. Serve with powdered sugar, berries, and/or syrup.
